Jan is passionate about creating a world that consumes less energy, is more sustainable, and socially just. For more than 10 years he worked towards this vision as a consultant, researcher and volunteer. Jan is the Knowledge Leader for Energy Efficiency Policy and a Principal Consultant at the Ricardo-AEA Group, an internationally-renowned energy and climate consultancy where he develops and leads complex projects on energy efficiency.
In addition to his consultancy work Jan also has a track record in energy research focusing on the politics of energy efficiency. He is a Visiting Research Associate at the Lower Carbon Futures Group of Oxford University's world-renowned Environmental Change Institute and an Associate Lecturer on the MSc in Nature, Society and Environmental Policy at the School of Geography, Oxford University.
Jan regularly presents on invitation at national and international conferences, gave evidence to the House of Commons' Energy and Climate Change Committee and has been interviewed by the New York Times, BBC Radio 4 and The Guardian. His research was cited by the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and in various parliamentary reports. In recognition of his work Jan has been appointed to be a member of the tt30, a think tank of the Club of Rome. and the Atlantic Council's Emerging Leaders in Environmental and Energy Policy Network.
